Financial Literacy: Planting the Seeds of Responsible Futures

“When young minds learn to understand money, they gain more than financial knowledge, they gain the confidence to shape their future.” - Anonymous

As part of its continued commitment to community engagement and meaningful learning, the Interact Club of SAI International School, with the participation of its Cambridge students, conducted a Financial Literacy Session at Govt. High School, Ghatikia on Thursday, 3rd September 2026. The school is one of the institutions undertaken under the Dr. Bijay Kumar Sahoo 100 Libraries Project, an initiative aimed at extending meaningful learning opportunities and fostering a culture of reading and knowledge among young learners. The session was organised for the students of Classes IX and X, with the objective of creating awareness about the importance of financial literacy and helping students develop an understanding of responsible financial habits from an early age.

Introducing the Interact Club
The session commenced with a brief introduction to Govt. High School, Ghatikia, followed by an introduction to the Interact Club and its activities. The students were familiarised with the Club’s mission and vision, as well as its commitment to encouraging young people to become responsible, compassionate and socially conscious citizens. The interaction also highlighted how initiatives undertaken by the Interact Club provide students with opportunities to step beyond the classroom, engage with the community and develop important values such as empathy, leadership, responsibility and service.

Creating Awareness About Financial Literacy
The central theme of the session was the importance of financial literacy in everyday life. Financial literacy is an essential life skill that enables individuals to understand money, make informed decisions and plan responsibly for the future. The session introduced students to the significance of developing healthy financial habits, including saving, budgeting, responsible spending and financial planning.

Towards a More Financially Aware Future
The Financial Literacy Session at Govt. High School Ghatikia was a meaningful step towards empowering young learners with knowledge that can positively influence their future choices. As part of the Dr. Bijay Kumar Sahoo 100 Libraries Project, such initiatives aim to complement the learning environment of partner schools by introducing students to knowledge and life skills that go beyond the conventional curriculum.

The session served as a reminder that financial literacy is an important foundation for independence, responsibility and informed decision-making. By creating awareness among young minds today, we can help nurture a generation that is better prepared to make thoughtful choices and confidently navigate the opportunities and challenges of tomorrow.
