Earth Grooves

The club members of Earth Grooves, our newly formed environmental club, put together our very first compost bin on Tuesday 1 September 2009.

Environmentally conscious SAI-oneers from Classes IV to XI had researched the best materials required for creating organic compost and instructed the school kitchen staff accordingly.  By the end of the day our first ‘instalment’ of veg peels was ready and the compost bin was ‘inaugurated’ by Club President Pooja Biswal of Class XI and Club Secretary, Simple Mohanty, Class VIII.

The kitchen garden project developed by Class I SAI-oneers was to promote the benefits of recycling and reducing waste.
We believe that composting at school is a fun way to learn about nature while also reducing the amount of organic waste that the school sends to landfill.

An added bonus is that students can actually get to see the end result of their efforts – their finished compost being used to beautify their school’s grounds.

SAI International school believes in making learning natural and effective by initiating the young learners with a wide array of experiences that arouses their appetite for knowing and understanding the wide world. Edu-cursions, in other words excursions for the purpose of education, are a vital aspect of the curriculum at SAI. Be it a trip to the railway station, or a visit to the museum, our students get the opportunity to be more aware and improve the quality of their acquired knowledge.  It is the first hand experience that transforms our lives from the mundane  to the extraordinary .

Among all the activities of our school, a major effort ,was subjected towards enhancing the acquisition of knowledge. The trip to the fabulous country of United Arab Emirates ,in the Autumn Break taken by 29 students from class VII to class XI in23rd of September2009 , accompanied by our chairman Mr. B.K. Sahoo, trustee Mrs. Shilpi Sahoo, the vice-principal Mr. Nilkantha Panigrahi and Mrs. Panigrahi, to the majestic cities of Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah was a step in this direction. The benefits reaped by our students from this trip are worth treasuring, for a lifetime. Most evidently the students experienced  a part of the vast cultural panorama of life amidst the vast diversity of the globe.. They witnessed  some true architectural delights  during the tour  which vindicated the peaks of  true human achievement.

Be it through video-conferencing or communicating directly with students from across the world (we have links with 40 schools across the globe), we strive to make our students truly international in their perception, vision and action. This trip may be regarded as the execution of this intention. There are  various international study exchange programmes in the pipeline in the immediate future. Our efforts will forever be complete and continuous in this direction.
