Ms Sujata Sen,Director British council East India and Marina Gandhi, Head of Education, British Council East India visited  the school on Wednesday 17 February 2010.

Mrs Sen and Mrs Gandhi were very impressed with the strength of ties between the school and the British Council which includes regular University of Cambridge ESOL exams programme conducted through the British Council and recent award of Reciprocal Visit Grant through their Global School Partnership in association with DFID.  Mrs Sen and Mrs Gandhi were particularly impressed with the school’s British Council Gallery dedicated to the projects done for the International School Award this past academic year and gave very positive feedback.

International Mother Tongue Day
Look around and you will see that our society is very diverse. Diversity enriches our lives and brings together the resources and talents of many people for the shared benefit of all. Sadly, the differences among us have historically formed the basis of fear, bigotry, and even violence. Yet consider how dull life would be if we all looked alike, thought alike, and spoke alike! By learning to recognize our similarities and appreciate our differences, together we can overcome prejudice and intolerance and work towards a more peaceful and productive world.
February 21st is celebrated the world over as International Mother Language Day. SAI International School took this as an opportunity to celebrate the diversity of languages spoken within our school and found 14 different mother tongues spoken in classes I to III alone!
These children came dressed in traditional clothing and introduced themselves to their classmates in the mother tongue of their home Indian state or country.
Participants were Junayd—English; Nisha—Tamil; Avi Meena – Rajastani dialect; Youna – Korean; Jigyasu – Gujarati; Ramaranee – Telegu; Srijanth – Hindi; Aman – Urdu; Sai Sambit – Oriya; Siddanth – Assamese; Dipanwita – Bengali; Liza – French; Priyansh – Punjabi; Kshitij – Marathi
The assembly was rounded off with a delightful poem recited in Hindi by Apoorva before the children sang the Indian national anthem.
