SAI International Model United Nations Conference (SAIMUN) is a three-day conceptual simulation of the United Nations held annually at SAI International School to promote global learning and foster leadership qualities in high school students. This meticulously designed event gives the students an insight on the various dynamics of United Nations and cultivates in them the essence of universal brotherhood, mutual respect, tolerance, peace and harmony. It gives a platform where the future global leaders learn the art of debating and winning not by force but by reason.
This constructive forum gives the participants an in-depth knowledge on the workings of the United Nations and provides them an opportunity to enhance their awareness on challenging global issues, contemporary International affairs and diplomacy, besides honing their ability on debating, public speaking, critical thinking, researching and writing. SAIMUN 16 witnessed a large participation of 600 students from across the Country and overseas, which brought in an amalgamation of diversified thoughts and ideas, enriching the participants experience. SAIMUN 17 with an expansive thought provoking and throughly researched agenda, besides experienced Chairperson promises to encourage the participants to delve deeper to deliberate on challenging issues of global concern in order to draft resolution to form a better world.
The theme of SAIMUN in "Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam", which means "One world one family", aligning with the words of the great leader, Kofi Annan, "The global work of the United Nations is not without reason compared to that of family-striving for a common goal in concert with all members for a better future". During the event, students from all over the globe assemble to create a "Global Village", showcasing the culture and traditions of their country and enlightening the gathering will lively music, The maiden event of SAIMUN was inaugurated in 2013 by the Chief Minister of Odisha, Shri Naveen Pattnaik. It is registered event of United Nations Information Centre for India and Bhutan (UNIC) and finds a place on their website.
The annual Startup Competition of SAI International School was conducted on Wednesday, July 19, 2017. Shri L.N.Gupta, IAS, Additional Chief Secretary MSME, the person behind Odisha Startup Policy, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest and judged the competition.
